Logical Expressions Earns Microsoft Certified Partner Status

Press Release: LE Earns Certified Partner Status

Logical Expressions, Inc. Earns Microsoft Certified Partner Status

Awarded Certification Because of New IdeaWeaver Software Product

July 2006 – Sandpoint, Idaho-based book and software publisher Logical Expressions, Inc. has passed all the criteria and has achieved Microsoft Certified Partner status with an ISV Software Solutions Competency.

The certification was awarded largely because in May, the company’s IdeaWeaver writing software passed independent platform certification testing at Veritest for Windows Client Software and Microsoft Office. (VeriTest is the testing service of Lionbridge Technologies and performs the Microsoft Platform Test for ISV Solutions.) Logical Expressions earned enough points from its tested products and customer references to become a Microsoft Certified Partner.

“We are proud to have achieved Certified Partner status, and have already received a tremendous number of resources from Microsoft that will help us continue development of IdeaWeaver and our other upcoming software projects,” says Vice President James Byrd.

Logical Expressions’ new product, IdeaWeaver, is a writing and creativity tool that is designed for anyone who needs to convert raw ideas into a completed document, manuscript, or presentation. Logical Expressions’ President and freelance writer, Susan Daffron says, “IdeaWeaver actually helps you write faster. You aren’t distracted by formatting issues, so you focus on just the words.”

Unlike a word processor, IdeaWeaver doesn’t force you to think linearly. IdeaWeaver is essentially an idea database where you can enter each of your ideas as soon as you think of them. After you have brainstormed a few ideas, you can categorize and organize them. The tool is designed to get you past the “blank page” start-up phase of a project when you’re trying to assemble a haphazard collection of related ideas into a coherent document. Logical Expressions refers to IdeaWeaver as a “content designer.” Much like a layout tool helps you organize a design, IdeaWeaver helps you organize your written content.

Developed using Microsoft’s .NET 2.0 framework, IdeaWeaver runs on Windows computers as a stand-alone application. Users can export their ideas into RTF format, which can be opened in virtually any word processor. A 30-day trial copy of the software is available for free download at http://www.ideaweaversoftware.com. A licensed copy costs $49.95 and discounts are available for volume licensing, accredited educational institutions, and non-profit organizations.

IdeaWeaver Writing and Creativity Software To Be Released

December 18, 2005 By Logical Expressions Staff

Press Release: IdeaWeaver To Be Released

“Blank Page Syndrome” Is a Thing of the Past with New Creativity Software

Logical Expressions, Inc. Will Release IdeaWeaver in May 2006

Sandpoint, ID – December 2005 – Logical Expressions, Inc. has announced the upcoming release of new creativity software product that will make it easier for writers to bring their ideas to fruition. Dubbed IdeaWeaver, the new writing tool is designed for anyone who needs to convert raw ideas into a completed document, manuscript, or presentation.

Unlike a word processor, IdeaWeaver doesn’t force you to think linearly. IdeaWeaver is essentially an idea database where you can enter each of your ideas as they float into your brain and then organize them later. The tool is designed to get you past that “blank page” start up phase of a project when you’re trying to assemble a haphazard collection of related ideas into something coherent. Many writers actually sit on the floor and organize their notes, papers, or index cards into piles. With IdeaWeaver, you can get up off the floor and organize all these miscellaneous tidbits on your computer instead.

IdeaWeaver is scheduled to be released May 1, 2006 and prospective users familiar with Logical Expressions’ past software projects are already lining up to be beta testers. Writer and editor Helen Swann says “I wish I had IdeaWeaver now! I can’t wait to start playing with it.” Developed using Microsoft’s .NET 2.0 framework, IdeaWeaver will run on Windows machines as a stand-alone application. Users will be able to export their ideas into standard document formats. So when your project is done, you can bring your ideas into Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Access or any other program that supports the available file formats.

IdeaWeaver is ideal for both large and small projects. For example, book authors often have to keep track of “back story,” timeline, or character information, which may never appear in the finished manuscript but is important to keep track of and remember. With IdeaWeaver, you’ll be able to separate this type of background information from ideas and text that contributes to the final content.

IdeaWeaver includes Categories to group similar types of ideas so you can find and compare them. With Topics, you can relate your ideas together in an infinite variety of ways, regardless of how they are organized in the final document. However, the software doesn’t force you to assign your ideas to a Category or Topic, so you can add ideas into the system and worry about organizing them later. When you’re ready to lay out your ideas in order, you can use Headings to help organize them.

IdeaWeaver includes sample projects to help you get started quickly. The samples include Categories, Topics, and Headings and content that explains how to apply these elements to your project. It also supports Project Types, so you can group similar projects for easier management and customize IdeaWeaver’s terminology, so you can use terms that relate to your particular project type, instead of IdeaWeaver’s standard Categories, Topics, and Headings.

IdeaWeaver is being developed by Logical Expressions, Inc. a company that is focused on helping people create, manage and distribute content. Because they produce so much written material themselves, IdeaWeaver has been developed with writers in mind. Even Lead Programmer, James Byrd is a writer. He says, “every time I write a technical article or project specification, I think about how useful it would be to have a tool like IdeaWeaver. It makes it a lot easier to develop the user interface when I’m thinking about how I’d use the software too!”

Sandpoint, Idaho Portal Site Redesigned

Press Release: Portal Site Redesigned

Sandpoint Web Site Gets a New Look

Logical Expressions, Inc. Revamps Large Portal Site

Sandpoint, ID – One of the most popular sites about the Sandpoint, Idaho area has been redesigned. In addition to a simpler navigation structure and a clean, easy-to-read interface, the new Sandpoint.com now features in-depth profiles of local businesses and an ecommerce store with Sandpoint-themed products. Sandpoint’s own Logical Expressions, Inc. recently completed the ambitious project of revamping the large portal site.

Sandpoint.com gets more than 100,000 unique visitors per month, making it one of the most popular Web sites about the Sandpoint area. Local entrepreneur, Eric Skinner originally created the site after buying the domain name from a company in Boston, Massachusetts. He worked with a Web development group and launched the first version in late 1999.

Logical Expressions, Inc. was uniquely positioned to do the makeover because the company wrote most of the original software that runs behind the scenes at Sandpoint.com, including the large searchable real estate database at http://realestate.sandpoint.com. Featuring all the properties in the Multiple Listing Service, this custom Web database software has reliably been serving up real estate information for years.

According to Logical Expression’s President, Susan Daffron, “Our goal was to make sure that Sandpoint.com is a people-friendly site with something for everyone – vacationers, out-of towners, and our local community. When we design Web sites, we focus on accessibility, and this site is no exception. We used decent-sized fonts and clear navigation, so even older users can read and use the site easily. The redesign also will make Sandpoint.com more accessible to search engines like Google.”

Sandpoint.com has had a number of different looks over the years, but it has always featured an abundance of photographs and information about the area. Eric Skinner took many of the pictures on the site, most notably the stunning aerial shots.

“We tried to keep all the visual interest the site has for people, including the photos,” said Daffron. “But we were concerned about local residents who can’t get high-speed connections. So we made sure the site is usable on a dial-up connection, without pop-up ads or other bandwidth-wasting annoyances.”

Daffron pointed out that they are still working through updating some information, and residents are encouraged to let her know if they find out-of-date listings or problems. “I do answer my e-mail, and we’ve already received some great feedback from people in the community. A Web site is always a work in progress, and every little bit helps!”

Logical Tips Newsletter Named Hot Site by USA Today

Press Release: Logical Tips Named Hot Site

Computer Newsletter by North Idaho Writer Susan Daffron Named “Hot Site” by USA Today

If you’re among the millions of people who have a love-hate relationship with your computer, take some advice from USA Today’s editors and sign up for Logical Tips.

Sandpoint, ID – October 15, 2004 – USA Today’s Web Guide recently featured Logical Tips, a newsletter by Sandpoint writer Susan Daffron, as one of its “Hot Sites.” Logical Tips earned praise from USA Today for offering “truly useful… tips, for software people actually own and use in non-bleeding-edge environments.”

The Logical Tips email newsletter is written by Susan Daffron, the President of Logical Expressions, Inc., a Sandpoint-based company that helps small businesses create, manage and distribute their most important commodity – information.

Susan began writing Logical Tips more than three years ago as a public service to the millions of PC users who struggle with the ballooning complexities of constant Windows upgrades and software “weirdness.”

“When I write Logical Tips, I have a certain type of person in mind,” says Susan. “My readers aren’t ‘dummies’ and they don’t need a ‘dummies guide’ with dopey pictures and corny jokes. What they DO need is someone who can explain software that’s always changing. My readers are intelligent, but they’re busy. They don’t have time for geek-speak, so I give them quick tips they can actually understand and use right away.”

Like its sister publication, “Computor Companion” (www.computorcompanion.com ) magazine, Logical Tips is about demystification: of computers, software, and the digital world as a whole. This same clear, step-by-step approach also underlies Susan’s business philosophy. When she and her husband founded Logical Expressions in 1994, they quickly established their reputation as technical experts who didn’t talk down to their clients.

“Logical Expressions is a content solutions provider, which is a fancy way of saying that we help small companies deal with information,” Susan explains. “We help them write information, package it with good design, and get it on the web and into print. We also help organize that information, especially online, so it’s appealing to clients or customers.”

“In an information society like ours, attractive and easy-to-access information is directly tied to making sales,” Susan adds. “It feels good to know that a national publication like USA Today recognized our ability to make technology understandable. That’s our goal in everything we do, whether it’s through our public service newsletter like Logical Tips, or in helping our clients build their businesses.”
