IdeaWeaver Writing and Creativity Software Helps Writer’s Meet Deadlines

December 11, 2007 By Logical Expressions Staff

Press Release: IdeaWeaver Helps Writer’s Meet Deadlines

How Writers Can Meet “Impossible” End-of-Year Deadlines

Two Step Process to Get Writing Projects Done

SANDPOINT, Idaho — The end of the year is approaching and many employees find themselves facing unreasonable or”impossible” writing deadlines. Book author and publishing expert Susan Daffron of Logical Expressions, Inc. offers a simple two step process to help writers meet end-of-year deadlines based on her report”Get Unstuck! 15 Ways to Jumpstart Your Creativity, Get Organized, and Finish Your Writing Project,” which visitors receive when they download her company’s IdeaWeaver writing and creativity software (http://www.IdeaWeaverSoftware.com).

Daffron says that to get the project done, writers must:

1. Figure out exactly how much time there is before the deadline.

2. Brainstorm ideas for half the time, and use the other half of the time for writing and revising.

For example, suppose a writer has to write a report for a meeting at 3:30 pm. It is now 1 pm. The deadline is two and one half hours away, but printing and formatting eats up about a half hour, so the real “drop-dead” time is two hours from now.

The writer now needs to lock himself in a room someplace where he absolutely won’t be interrupted. From 1 pm to 2 pm, he jots down anything that comes to mind. All ideas are fair game.

At promptly 2 pm, the writer starts reorganizing, rewriting, and revising until the 3 pm deadline. The last half hour is spent formatting and printing.

Unless the writer is interrupted or finds some way to goof off, he should have a report by the 3:30 deadline. It may not be great, but it will be done.

Daffron points out that in today’s hyper-connected workplace, sometimes the only way to get productive work done is to get away from all email, cell phones, text messaging, and other distractions. It may sound simple, but it works.

Writers who need brainstorming or organizational support can try out Logical Expressions’ “IdeaWeaver” software. It is free to try for 30 days, and a license costs $49.95. The free trial download of the software is available at: www.IdeaWeaverSoftware.com. The site features a free “getting started” video, case studies, and a free e-course called “Get Unstuck! 15 Ways to Jumpstart Your Creativity, Get Organized, and Finish Your Writing Project.”

Vegan Cookbook Author Offers Ideas for Vegan Dinner Parties

December 10, 2007 By Logical Expressions Staff

Press Release: Vegan Dinner Parties

Virtuoso Vegan Dinner Party Ideas

Author of Vegan Success Cookbook Offers Suggestions

SANDPOINT, Idaho — If you are planning a party this holiday season, don’t forget about your vegetarian guests. Susan Daffron of Logical Expressions, Inc. points out that vegetarian or even vegan food doesn’t have to be “weird” and including vegan-friendly dishes in your dinner party plans doesn’t have to be difficult. She offers a few tips on catering to vegans, inspired by her book “Vegan Success: Scrumptious, Healthy Vegan Recipes for Busy People” (ISBN: 978-0-9749245-1-9; LCCN-2006907834).

1. Many party dishes are actually vegan. Salads and breads are obvious choices, but many other options exist too. Look at recipes you already have in standard cookbooks like the Joy of Cooking. Many recipes in the vegetable-oriented sections are vegan.

2. Ethnic food often is vegetarian or vegan. For example, hummus is a Middle Eastern spread made from chickpeas. Partnered with some slices of pita bread, hummus makes an easy and tasty appetizer.

3. Even desserts can be “veganized” with a few simple substitutions. For example, the Vegan Success Web site has a recipe for Chocolate Zucchini bread, which is almost like the standard recipe, except it uses an egg substitute instead of eggs and soy milk instead of cow’s milk.

Finding vegetarian ingredients is no longer difficult. Although health food stores generally have a wider selection, more grocery stores are carrying vegetarian products like tofu and soy milk than ever before. With a little creativity and planning, it’s easy to provide party food that both vegetarians and non-vegetarians can enjoy.

Web Business Success Author Says Don’t Follow the Herd

December 1, 2007 By Logical Expressions Staff

Press Release: Don’t Follow the Herd

For Web Business Success in 2008 Don’t Follow the Herd

When It Comes to Web Sites, Some Things Never Go Out of Style

SANDPOINT, Idaho — Hype-filled terms like Web 2.0 got a lot of media play in 2007, but do trends like “social media” make real business sense? Susan Daffron of Logical Expressions, Inc. offers a few common-sense tips for getting more from the Web in 2008, inspired by her book “Web Business Success: The Entrepreneur’s Guide to Web Sites That Work” (ISBN: 978-0-9749245-0-2; LCCN-2006909228).

1. For business owners, jumping on the latest Internet fad is often not a good idea. Terms like Web 2.0 are bandied about endlessly, but what do they really mean? Look at the business issues surrounding new technology first. Just because something is “in” doesn’t mean it’s right for your business. Don’t follow the herd for no reason. It doesn’t matter if FaceBook is the latest greatest thing online if members of your customer base never visit that site.

2. Some things never go out of style. Web sites that load quickly and provide real information invariably trump sites that are nothing more than over-designed eye candy. Consider the popularity of Craig’s List (http://www.craigslist.com). The site provides a service people want and uses no graphics at all. It is speedy on even the lowliest dial-up connection.

3. Keep the techno babble to a minimum. No one likes to feel stupid, so explain things in simple terms that anyone can understand. If you have an ecommerce site, don’t overwhelm people with too many choices. People will just hit the “back” button and your opportunity for a sale is lost forever.

Daffron suggests that when it comes to Web sites, speed, simplicity, clarity, and clean design never go out of style. Instead of obsessing on the latest fad or buzzword, talk to your customers and find out what they really want from your business.
